OUR SALTNER EDELWEISS
‘Leontopodium Alpinum’ literally means: ‘lion’s foot’. The name of this plant, from the Greek “leon”, lion, and “podion”, foot, accounts for our characteristic felt white hats. As for us, it is simply “edelweiss”.
Our ‘hotel of wonders’, the Saltner Edelweiss, keeps inside a leonine strength and is situated at the edge of the sacred thicket, one of Europe’s greatest larch woods, a unique paradise for whoever longs for a contact with nature, recreation, rest, let alone adventure.
At a distance of 9 kms from Bolzano/Bozen and 2 kms from the village of San Genesio/Jenesien, the Saltner Edelweiss Hotel is situated at 1361 mts above sea-level, surrounded by woods and meadows, but not in the middle of nowhere. Its setting is familiar; the experience is that of living with friends, with no strict rules about meal times – you can have breakfast as late as 3 p.m., according to your own chosen rhythm.
